Rules and regulations

The competition is exclusively accessible to students who are registered and attend piano lessons on a regular basis in academies of music, music schools and Arts High Schools (Conservatories) from Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
- The Competition is not open to :
- Previous or current students from Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel
- Students who learn only with private teachers
- Students who have already acquired a first Master in piano
- The candidates are distributed in four age categories according to their teaching level and their age at the registration date.
- ACADEMY STUDENTS
- Category A : younger than 11 years
- Category B : 11 to 14 years
- Category C : 15 to 19 years
- CONSERVATORY STUDENTS
- Category D : younger than 25 years
- The students registered in a Conservatory as «young talents» must register in Category D.
- The order of appearance of competitors will be alphabetical. However the Board may reserve the right to change the order of appearance.
- The jury of each category is free to make changes in that category’s programme.
- Finalists are required to attend the prize-giving ceremony
- Finalists are required to wear concert dress for the final
- The contestants must be present at least one hour before their performance.
- All works must be performed by memory, without exception.
- The contestants are free to decide the order in which they want to perform their works.
- Changes in the repertoire will not be allowed after the final subscription date.
- The professors will not be allowed to stand in close proximity to their students during their performance.
- If one contestant has been a student of one member of the jury, the latter shall not judge the contestant.
- A contestant who has already received a prize in a category cannot perform in the same category again.
- All the rounds are open to the public. The audience may be charged for admission.
- Taking pictures or recordings (sound or images) during the sessions is not allowed. The competition reserves the right, without payment of fees, to record and distribute recordings for media and other purposes, including the Internet, and to televise, broadcast, film, record, videotape, photograph or live stream all stages of the competition, all prize performances and concerts.
- The Board cannot be held responsible for physical injuries or material damages that may result from participation or attendance in the Competition.
- The Board has the final right to take appropriate decisions on subjects not explicitly provided for in the above rules and regulations. All decisions made by the Board and the jury are final.
